As an Enviromental Analyst you will implement and maintain local environmental management programs in the areas of Air, Waste, Water, and/or Emergency Planning in compliance with all company policies, quality and regulatory requirements. Conducts environmental research, sampling, analysis, and inspections and provides technical information and training to management and staff consistent with corporate strategies and environmental program goals.
What you will do:
- Works to develop a corporate environmental management strategy, as per ISO 14000 or equivalent. Coordinates implementation of the strategy and develops control procedures to ensure strategy is maintained at all levels of the company.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of environmental legislation. Informs relevant parties of legislation and how the changes will affect operations.
- Ensures required licensing for processes and equipment is completed and the requirements fulfilled, as per local legislation.
- Proposes and implements process improvements with supporting cost analysis, to ensure environmental soundness, and maintain the integrity and function of the process.
- Reviews all plans for re-design, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, process improvement and repair development, assesses for environmental impact, and provides alternates where applicable.
- Provides technical information and support for remediation/mitigation of those activities and equipment purchases that may have environmental impacts, while maintaining the integrity of the repair, process, and/or equipment.
- Assists in design and procurement of waste handling technology.
- Monitors and implements appropriate industry standards and developments in pollution prevention.
- Actively participates in continuous improvements of the organization's environmental performance.
- Clarifies environmental responsibilities and expectations with customers, vendors and neighboring organizations; provides technical support for contract negotiations where needed.
- Interacts with and coordinates outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors and supply vendors for process improvements.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Education Requirements: - University degree in Science or Engineering with a specialization in environmental science; or equivalent.
Position Requirements: - Regulatory experience required.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Thorough knowledge of company process and company instruction manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of aerospace materials and processes.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
- Exposure to a Technology industry dealing with environmental issues, including experience with air emission calculations (ex: emission inventories, PBR's and general air permitting requirements).
- Experience in a technology industry dealing with environmental issues.
Preferred Requirements: - Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns.
- Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
- Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy.
- HM181 DOT (40 hrs Hazardous Materials).
- HAZWOPER (24hr training).
- ISO14001- Environmental Management System.
Background Information
The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work. The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job. This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation.
Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years.
Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals, but no (or minimal) direction with respect to what action steps to follow.
