The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. Director, Counseling Services for Student Health and Wellness (11 months) Job Purpose: The Counseling Services Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the college's counseling and mental health services. The Director of Counseling reports to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. This position involves managing a team of counselors, overseeing the provision of counseling services to students, and collaborating with campus stakeholders to support the mental health and well-being of the student body. Education and Experience: Master's Degree from an accredited program in mental health counseling or social work; AND five (5) years of professional experience Two (2) years of which were in a supervisory/managerial role; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Licensed or license eligible as a Mental Health Provider in the state of Minnesota Licensed or license eligible to provide clinical supervision. Preferred Experience: Experience in higher education or college mental health. Plan, organize and direct Counseling Services operation and activities. Work collaboratively with campus and local providers to provide care, interventions and referrals to the student body. Establish and maintain standard of care and scope of practice Oversee compliance and adherence with policies, laws, regulations, procedures, and Ethical Standards of Practice. Manage financial and human resources. Identify, measure and report on department goals and initiatives. Adhere to confidentiality and applicable laws around client mental health services Supervise all aspects of staffing (selection, training, development, and performance). Provide clinical and administrative supervision to staff. Coordinate the hiring of qualified employees to fill job vacancies. Assess ongoing performance of employees by establishing and communicating performance expectations and conducting performance and salary reviews. Provide opportunities for ongoing training and development to employees. Identify, coordinate and supervise all aspects of Student Internship Program Manage programmatic, recordkeeping, budgets, and reporting operations in compliance with laws and CSS policies. Monitor expenses, spending and involvement in College budget review and preparations as assigned. Collaborate on budget preparation of the Student Health and Wellbeing initiatives and priorities. Supervise the usage of the department's electronic health records and other recordkeeping obligations. Ensure compliance with all clinically relevant regulatory and accrediting requirements while also continually participating in quality improvement initiatives relating to the operations of the department. Provide vision and leadership in establishing and monitoring policies, operations, scope, and standards of practice of Counseling, ensuring its operation is consistent with community and national standards of practice. Commitment to the Student Health and Wellness Team to provide integrated care and services to students. Reports to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and provides expertise and insights to the mission and goals of the Student Health and Wellness Team. Actively collaborates with Directors of other departments and the Director of Student Health Services to provide optimal healthcare delivery to students. Collaborates and coordinates with campus and community partners on campus health and wellness initiatives, interventions, and referrals. Stay current with developments in the field of college mental health, seeking opportunities to enhance Counseling's services and programs. Provide direct clinical and support services to students Provide crisis services and supports, case management, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and intervention. Demonstrate knowledge of treatment considerations which impact diverse student populations; including those from marginalized backgrounds. Manage complex crisis and/or clinical situations and provide related supervision, training, and consultation. Utilize appropriate assessment of student needs to inform programming and services. Understanding of developmental and transitional concerns which impact students. Knowledge of mental health trends related to student needs, models of care, and best practices. Ensure implementation of clinical counseling services which adhere to the highest professional standards and best practices for college counseling services.
