Senior leadership role responsible for managing over $525M of sales across the U.S. and Canada Retail Channel. Provide leadership & direction to approximately 65 sales professionals both in Account Management and Field Sales distributed across the US and Canada. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth & share gains for the entire Outdoors Business Unit product portfolio.
YOUR ROLE- As a member of the Outdoors Leadership Team (OLT) this is a key role contributing to the development of the 3 year business strategy including organic & inorganic growth, business improvement & organizational excellence.
- Develops, implements and adjusts strategies to optimize revenue profitability and market share for the retail channel. Develops awareness for the customer s product needs and maintains or enhances customer relations.
- Champions a clear channel of communication and coordination with functional counterparts - wholesale team, category management, channel marketing, finance, operations, human resources, etc.
- Develop and execute a robust go-to-market strategy - right products, right price, right location(s)/customer(s); lead development of promotion strategy.
- Lead the remote sales team to ensure the successful achievement of sales, profit and market share objectives. Other KPI s include shelf share, forecast accuracy, new product performance vs. forecast, variable CM%, etc.
- Define, develop and manage the implementation of sales, distribution & pricing strategies, operating plans and incentive programs (customer & associate) for our Retail channel and team.
- Champion collaboration, inclusion and leverage between sales & marketing for all key customer line reviews and other events
- Build & champion Outdoors value proposition to customers (including Brand, service, differentiation, etc.) and leverage for price, margin and/or volume advantage.
- Active leader in Product planning, life-cycle management and NPD process. Champion the voice of the customer.
- Develop and implement annual account plans for all key accounts and manage effective top to top relationships with key retail accounts.
- Regularly evaluate organizational capabilities and gaps to ensure sustainable long-term growth of the retail channel.
- Maintain knowledge of competitor products, marketing programs and industry trends.
- Cultivate and foster an environment of high performance through performance management, associate development, career progression and rewards and recognition that drive a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Ensure achievement of financial objectives
Qualifications- BS in Business or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years experience with a $300M+ consumer goods company; min. 10 years in sales leadership role
- Proven negotiation skills and highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and with external partners and customers.
- Strong track record of transforming organizations - building the team, managing change, streamlining processes and driving cost, quality and delivery improvements
- Demonstrated category management skills - strong partnerships with big box merchants; ability to manage and exceed customer expectations
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to make tough and timely decisions
- Demonstrated strategic planning and execution skills
- Routine travel required including international (30-40%)
