The FNIH seeks a Compliance Associate to join its legal team. This role will be key in implementing and maintaining the organization's compliance program and in fostering a positive compliance culture throughout the organization. Work will be conducted under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support the continued development and implementation of an organization-wide ethics, risk, and compliance program.
- Work collaboratively with the legal team and other departments to ensure the organization continues to operate in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, its contractual obligations, and its internal policies.
- Monitor and track the organization's compliance obligations to ensure timely completion of all compliance activities.
- Prepare annual state regulatory reports, including corporate and charitable registration reports, and ensure all reporting obligations are timely met and the organization's good standing is maintained.
- Research and prepare new regulatory filings and registrations as needed.
- Support the monitoring and completion of contractual compliance obligations, such as reporting requirements.
- Monitor and research legal and regulatory changes relevant to the organization's compliance obligations.
- In collaboration with the Human Resources team, monitor and maintain compliance with state labor and employment laws.
- Assist with governance activities, such as compiling conflict of interest disclosures.
- Support the maintenance and monitoring of the organization's risk register and risk management activities, including insurance.
- Complete compliance due diligence process for counterparties.
- Maintain and update internal processes and forms to enhance effectiveness.
- Review compliance-related policies, provide recommendations for adjustments, and facilitate the implementation of updated policies as necessary.
- Organize and manage appropriate documentation of all compliance activities.
- Assist with compliance training programs for staff.
- Provide other day-to-day oversight of compliance activities.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- B.A. or B.S. required.
- 3-5 years of professional work experience required.
- Experience working in an organization's compliance or legal function is a strong advantage.
- Exemplary team player with sound judgment.
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including professionalism, discretion, and tact; ability to communicate concisely and clearly with a variety of audiences.
- Exceptional attention to detail and well organized.
- Strong analytical, operational, and project management skills.
